Dacre, Son & Hartley is supporting a festive campaign and collecting gifts, so more disadvantaged children in West Yorkshire can enjoy the magic of Christmas and have a present to open when the big day comes.

The company is supporting Radio Aire’s Cash for Kids and Mission Christmas campaign, which collects and distributes thousands of presents each year for children living in poverty, who would otherwise not receive a single present on Christmas Day.

Anyone wanting to donate gifts, which should be new and unwrapped, can drop them off at Dacre, Son & Hartley’s offices in Bramhope, North Leeds, Otley, Guiseley, Ilkley, Wetherby, Burley in Wharfedale and Keighley. In addition, most of the firm’s 152 team members are donating presents to the appeal.

Emma Kerrywood, from Dacre, Son & Hartley, said: “The Festive Season is a special time for most of us, but tens of thousands of deprived children in and around Leeds, who live in poverty, could wake up on Christmas morning thinking it’s just another day because they haven’t got a single present to open.

“Thankfully Mission Christmas won’t let that happen and every year they do an amazing job collecting, wrapping and distributing thousands of gifts for all age groups, from babies to 18-year olds, so everyone can enjoy the magic of Christmas. However, Mission Christmas can only do this if they receive suitable gift donations and we’re delighted to be playing a role in helping them to spread some festive cheer.

“Gifts need to be new and unwrapped, but everything is welcome from baby clothes and toys, to toiletries and even gift vouchers for older ones. Donations can be made up until the 11th December 2019 and we’re already seeing a great response and receiving lots of generous donations from the local communities surrounding our offices, which is fantastic.”

Mission Christmas is now the biggest Toy Appeal in the UK.  In 2018 it distributed gifts to more than 294,000 disadvantaged kids across the UK – with 27,215 of the recipients living in West Yorkshire.
