Senior Associate Nick Alcock, who is the branch manager at our Knaresborough office took part in the annual Northern Aldborough Festival charitable cricket match this Sunday.

Members of ITV soap opera Emmerdale, led by Chris Chittell (a.k.a. Eric Pollard) took on the Northern Aldborough Festival XI in the special celebratory cricket match, which raises funds raised for the Emmerdale nominated charity Bloodwise, formerly Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.  The established UK cancer charity has been fighting and beating blood cancers since 1960s.

Nick played for Aldborough getting 29 runs not out. The team beat their opponents, achieving 182 for 5 off 20 overs. The Emmerdale team got 137 runs for five off 20 overs.

Nick said: “The match was played at Harrogate’s County Cricket Ground in front of more than 200 people, and it was a splendid occasion. The weather was stunning and everyone enjoyed what was a very fast-paced game of cricket.

“The Northern Aldborough Festival showcases a range of musical and literary experiences alongside the charitable match, and it’s fun-packed last night outdoor concert, which is taking place this weekend in the grounds of Aldborough Manor, will attract hundreds of people. With a 1980s theme, live music and fireworks, it’s set to be a spectacular conclusion to this successful festival.”
