A village home that was sold in just two weeks by Knaresborough’s top selling estate agent, Dacre, Son & Hartley, attracting 22 viewings, generated best and final offers well above of its guide price. The estate agent reports that demand for village homes is far outweighing the number of properties coming onto the market.

Senior associate Nick Alcock, who is the branch manager at Dacre, Son & Hartley’s High Street office in Knaresborough, said: “Low Moor House in the popular village of Scotton, close to Knaresborough was on the market with a guide price of £595,000. From launch day we experienced significant levels of interest in the home. The property sits in a generously sized plot on Low Moor Lane. Many of the neighbouring properties have been redeveloped or modernised and extended and there is plenty of scope to do that here – subject to the usual consents – and this prospect certainly appealed to many of the people who viewed the property.

“Low Moor House hasn’t been on the market since it was built in the 1960s, and the spacious three bedroom detached family home has magnificent private gardens. Houses in Scotton sell quickly, as it’s such a popular village, just a mile away from Knaresborough and three miles from Harrogate.

“With a thriving village pub -The Guy Fawkes Arms – as well as a village hall, church and cricket club, there is plenty of community activity and houses are very popular with families due to its accessibility to both Knaresborough and Harrogate. We have now launched two further village homes onto the market and are expecting plenty of interest in both.”

Willow Green on Arkendale Road in Ferrensby is a well-appointed three/four bedroom detached family home with private enclosed gardens, ample off-street parking and a garage. It is on the market for £595,000.

Holly House, on Bernard Lane in Green Hammerton has a guide price of £550,000 and has been substantially extended. The four-bedroom detached family home has delightful rear gardens, off street parking and a garage.

Nick added: “Ferrensby and Green Hammerton are popular villages. Residents in Ferrensby are just a short drive from all the amenities of Boroughbridge and Knaresborough and Green Hammerton residents have great access to York, Knaresborough and Harrogate. Both villages are within easy reach of the A1 motorway yet offer a pleasant village setting.”
