Our Wetherby office is supporting a group of Explorer Scouts from Wetherby and Harrogate, who have been invited to travel to North America to take part in the prestigious World Scout Jamboree.
Every four years over 60,000 scouts from all over the world attend the event and three local Explorer Scouts, who are based at Collingham Scout and Guide Hut, will attend next year’s meeting at the Venture Reserve in West Virginia.
Alex, Lucy and Josh attend local schools in Wetherby and Harrogate and are aged 14 and 15. To attend next summer’s three-week event, they need to raise £3,800 each to fund travel, food and accommodation costs. Dacres has supported them by sponsoring a calendar that will be sold to local residents and businesses throughout North Yorkshire and beyond. (is this correct?)
Paul Baxter, area director, said: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these Explorer Scouts to spend time in North America, meet Scouts from across the world and attend the movement’s most significant event.
“The trio are all young leaders in the Scout movement, coaching younger group members, and they aspire to have a long-term involvement in this fantastic movement, so we’re delighted to lend our support to their fundraising efforts.”
