DACRES ‘BUST A MOVE’ WITH 10K RACE SPONSORSHIP
Parents and friends of Bishop Monkton Primary School are launching a fund-raising 10K race to raise money for a number of projects at the village school.
The ‘Beckbusters’ 10K will take place on 30th September and its organisers are hoping to attract support from local businesses and villagers as well as those involved with the school.
One of the first businesses to get behind the ‘Beckbusters’ 10K is our Ripon branch.
School governor, Rebecca Owen, is one of a dedicated team organising the event, she said: “We have 112 pupils at our small friendly village school, and another 23 in the nursery. We are currently building a forest school so children can enjoy learning and play outside, which we have already raised funds for, but there is always the need for more money to support future projects. That is why we decided to do the race, and we asked all the children at the school to take part in a competition to name it.
“Nine year old Grace Daly came up with the name ‘Beckbusters’ as competitors will be running through the village beck. Another pupil, eleven year old Grace Nelson, won the logo design competition, and we will be launching a website and Facebook page soon.
“I met Chris O’Mahony from Dacres at another local school fund-raising event that they were sponsoring, and he was incredibly helpful and keen to support us in our mission to raise funds for the school. We are so grateful for the company’s support, and that of the two pubs in the village who are already onside, as are so many of the villagers, parents and friends of the school. We are hoping to attract hundreds of runners for the 10K and will also be putting a shorter 2K fun run on for the children and anyone else who would like to take part. We would also like to appeal to other local businesses to get in touch to find out how they can be part of what is going to be a really exciting event.”
Area manager and senior associate, Chris O’Mahony, from our Ripon branch said: “Our firm has operated in Ripon for 40 years and is the top performing agent in the area. Over the years we have become heavily involved with the community and have numerous sponsorship agreements with local sports clubs and charitable groups. For the second year in a row we sponsored the Fountains 10K and 2K fun run and also attended on race day handing out goodie bags and providing raffle prizes, and we’re looking forward to doing something similar at the Bishop Monkton ‘Beckbusters’ 10K.”
Our Ripon branch currently sponsors North Stainley Cricket Club, Studley Royal Cricket Club and Ripon Rugby Club, including a player sponsorship of Ben Buckley, one of our employees.
