A bungalow that has been totally transformed into a modern four-bedroom family home by its current owners, is on the market with Dacre Son & Hartley’s York office for £750,000.

Dunelm has been painstakingly renovated by Greg and Karen Cox. Karen said: “We fell in love with the village when we were working in Fulford and Catterick. We bought it in 2012 and started the renovation in 2018.

“We literally took the whole house back to the brickwork. Everything was stripped out and replaced, from the electrics to the plumbing, we put everything right. We also invested in an air source heat pump and solar panels, so the property is very energy efficient.

“We lived in a caravan on-site for the whole project, which took two years, so it was a real labour of love. We have been very happy here but are moving to be closer to our son’s school. It’s a great family home and the location in Linton on Ouse is ideal for anyone wanting to live in a village but with easy access to York.”

Just eight miles to the northwest of York, Linton on Ouse has a popular pub, village hall and primary school. Mindy Pearson, from Dacres in York, said: “Dunelm has a fabulous dual aspect living room, with a wood burning stove, as well as a stunning living kitchen with plenty of integrated appliances and contemporary fitted units, as well as dining and seating areas. Ideal for family living, the home has four generous double bedrooms and the principal ensuite bedroom has a fabulous triple aspect.”

Outside, the gardens are south facing, and there is ample parking for several cars. The property is accessed by a private lane off the Main Street. Mindy added: “Dunelm has a very private feel, whilst being central to the village, and we believe the property has plenty of appeal. The village is close to Newton on Ouse, which has excellent gastro pubs and adjoins the National Trust’s Beningbrough Hall. There is a local bus service to York and beyond. Clifton Moor shopping centre is approximately five miles away, with easy access to the A19. The village is also well positioned for commuters with Leeds, Harrogate and the A1 all within comfortable driving distance.”
