Almost £11,000 has been raised for Fountains CE Primary School near Ripon following a charitable race that saw 398 runners take part in a 10K race and 95 in a 2K fun run.
It’s the second year that property firm Dacre, Son & Hartley, has supported the event. This year a team of six from the Ripon office attended on race day, handing out goody bags to the competitors. The firm also ran a raffle, with local man Chris Jefferson winning a hamper of sweet treats.
The Fountains 10K sold out three months in advance of the race, and in 2017 £10,000 was raised to buy and install a new interactive screen in the school hall and also provide additional laptops to support the childrens’ learning.
Race director, Mark Reed, says: “It was the twentieth anniversary of this ever-popular event, and we were delighted that Dacres got involved again alongside our other sponsors which included GoPrint3D, Kettlewell Fuels, Grantley Hall, Dales Water Services, Yorkshire Vintners and Mud and Blood. Yorkshire and England cricketer Ryan Sidebottom also took part in the 10K race and it was a fantastic day.”
Area manager and senior associate, Chris O’Mahony, from Dacre Son & Hartley’s Ripon branch says: “The weather was kind to us and it was great to see so many people of all ages taking part. It’s such a well-run event which successfully raises a large sum of money for Fountains School each year and we are very much looking forward to being involved again next year.”
Dacre Son & Hartley’s Ripon branch currently sponsors North Stainley Cricket Club, Studley Royal Cricket Club and Ripon Rugby Club, including a player sponsorship of Ben Buckley, who works for the firm as a sales negotiator.
