PROPERTY MARKET GOING STRONG IN WEST YORKSHIRE
Aire Valley market leaders and Yorkshire’s leading firm of independent estate agents, Dacre Son & Hartley is reporting a marked increase in sales in the Keighley, Bingley and Saltaire region
Area Director Ian Bradbury says: “I am delighted to say that the market is very different to this time last year; sales are double what they were in 2008 but more tellingly the number of sales which have fallen through are half what they were last year.”
“Homes ranging from £75,000 to £150,000 have proved the most popular with both first time buyers and investors taking advantage of the lower prices. We have also found that the market is much more liquid thanks to the availability of ‘chain free’ properties. About 25% of properties are empty which is speeding up transaction times.”
Dacre Son & Hartley’s rentals division is also experiencing an extremely busy period as the rentals market continues to go from strength to strength. Ian explains: “Because we are Keighley’s longest established firm in both sales and lettings we have been able to provide people in the area with a really good choice of housing stock whether to buy or rent.’’
“Our experience and knowledge of the area has also meant we have been able to guide our customers through a difficult period in the housing market and give the very best advice to those wanting to sell, buy or rent providing a balanced view and the right results.”
Dacre Son and Hartley is now predicting that the market will remain steady over the winter months. Ian says: “As long as people remain realistic about pricing we believe the market will continue to recover. There are changes afoot next year with the general election and debates over stamp duty and VAT that will no doubt impact the market but, with a sensible approach, we believe that the market will continue to improve throughout 2010.”
